What is IP Transit and How Does it Work?

IP transit, short for Internet Protocol transit, is a service that allows your network to connect and communicate with the global internet. It acts as the gateway for your data to traverse the internet and reach its destination. Here’s how it works:

Routing

Your data packets are directed through Iperium’s extensive network infrastructure.

Peering

We have established peering relationships with major internet service providers (ISPs).

Global Reach

Your data is routed through multiple nodes and networks, reaching its destination anywhere on the internet.

Everything you need to know about us and our services.

What is an Autonomous System?

An Autonomous System (AS) represents a set of IP prefixes that belong to a network and are managed by a single organisation. Each AS is assigned an Autonomous System Number (ASN), which is unique to the network. Iperium’s is AS55707.

What is the relevance of RPKI?

Resource Public Key Infrastructure (RPKI) is a mechanism to make the internet more secure. Through RPKI, a customer can create a Route Origin Authorisation (ROA). ROA specifies which AS can advertise the prefix. This allows the IP transit providers to perform route validation and drop any invalid routes, thus protecting customers against routing leaks and hijacks.

How can I connect to Iperium's backbone network?

If you have footprint in one of the Data Centres that Iperium resides in around the nation a cross-connect can be ordered to us for direct connectivity.

Do you provide BGP?
